About
The 250th anniversary of American democracy marks a milestone that invites us to both honor our history and actively shape our future.
As a project of the Initiative for Democracy and Civic Engagement, the Clements Library, and the Arts Initiative, the U.S. at 250 program builds on Michigan’s legacy of fostering dialogue, embracing complexity, and reaffirming our commitment to democracy's values. Recognizing that democracy is an ongoing and often challenging process, we aim to spark campus-wide reflection on our shared past while empowering the university community to envision and work toward the future we hope to create over the next 250 years.
We look forward to supporting and uplifting a wide variety of events and programming across our campus — opportunities that encourage reflection, dialogue, and bold imagination about the future of the United States.
